Six decades on, A new chapter.
In 1922, Paul Luvera Sr. opened his neighborhood grocery on an unusually sunny day in November.
Only four years earlier, he had arrived as an immigrant from Italy. Joined by his father, Nicola, the two worked the counters and shelves of Luvera’s Market for more than thirty years. It was an institution of community in Anacortes, WA - known for generosity, warmth, and Italian charm - with a history as storied as Paul and Nicola’s own.
When Nicola passed in 1956, Paul carried on for just one more year before retiring, closing the doors on their shared chapter.
Three generations later, Luvera’s Market is back as a new kind of family business: a neighborhood market, where you can stop by for coffee, grab a bite from our deli, and leave with a fabulous bottle of wine (plus a gift for you and yours).
